Poljanska dolina
With its diverse and stunning landscapes, the Poljane Valley offers endless opportunities for outdoor leisure. Thanks to an extensive network of local roads and easy accessibility, it serves as the perfect base for hiking, cycling (both mountain and road), foraging for forest fruits, or simply enjoying a refreshing walk in the fresh air.

Cycling
The Škofja Loka Hills are woven with an extensive network of cycling trails, making the Poljane Valley an exceptional starting point for cyclists of all kinds:
- The Gorenja Vas – Poljane Cycling Loop – This 115 km circuit features a cumulative elevation gain of 3,400 meters. Due to its difficulty, the route is divided into three stages. These pleasant and safe paths lead cyclists past cultural and historical monuments, with plenty of accommodation and refreshment stops along the way.
- The Sora River Trail (Medvode to Žiri) – This moderately demanding 35 km route runs primarily along paved roads. For a more scenic experience, you can occasionally bypass the main thoroughfare by opting for charming local side roads.
- The Old Blegoš Road Trail – Best suited for experienced cyclists with a solid fitness level, this 42 km trail features 576 meters of elevation gain. The more adventurous can even challenge themselves by cycling all the way to the summit of Mount Blegoš.
Hiking
The Škofja Loka Hills and the Polhov Gradec Dolomites offer countless well-marked and maintained trails for sports and recreation in every season. Their peaks reward hikers with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and distant mountain ranges:
- Blegoš (1562 m) – The second-highest peak in the Škofja Loka Hills
- Slajka and Špik – Two scenic peaks rising to the west of Hotavlje
- Ermanovec (1026m) – A popular peak located above the village of Sovodenj
- Stari vrh (1217 m) – Known for the ski resort of the same name
- Pasja ravan (1020 m) – The second-highest peak in the Polhov Gradec Hills
- Bukov vrh – Home to the picturesque Church of Our Lady of Sorrows
