Life has created countless stories in the heart of the Poljanska valley, including the sory of the Lipan Inn. It begins back in 1966 when Lojze and Tilka Filipič from Hotavlje sold their first glass of spritzer at Lipan’s. How many glasses followed we’ll never know as years of age, lovers and glasses of wine are never counted, according to an old proverb.

Their restless entrepreneurial spirits wouldn’t let them be still so as their family grew, so did the business, always relying on the old cooking traditions which are to this day woven throughout their story. The tradition is upheld by their sons Izidor and Janez with their spouses Klavdija and Sabina, with sister Andreja and her husband Janez providing assistance when more hands are required on the kitchen deck. Constant improvements and inclusion of modern cooking techniques and approaches mean that their culinary offering set in the wonderful surroundings on the banks of Poljanska Sora river will satisfy even the most demanding connoisseurs.

Our mission is to preserve the tradition and develop new approaches to providing services to our clients. This is why our staff does not see their work as work alone but also as a lifestyle. We invest in our staff’s training and use only high quality ingredients as the only true guest is a satisfied one. We will always make sure that your stay with us won’t be your last one and that you’ll return.

The next generation may be in charge of the Inn by now but rest assured, nana Tilka is still the first in the kitchen in the morning, peeking in the pans, working her wooden cooking spoon and providing an occasional advice and a hint or two. Her experience and wisdom provide a constant source of inspiration to her son Janez and his wife Klavdija, resulting in plates full of lightness, freshness and taste. Izidor and Sabina are in charge of making sure you have everything you need when enjoying our delicasies with Evelin and Žan – the oldest two of the seven grandchildren – helping out if there is a larger event taking place.

After you’ve tasted our specialties you can extend your experience at Lipan by staying in one of our modern double rooms, two of them also have a sitting area with a pull-out bed. A business corner with a computer, printer, scanner, copier and a broadband internet connection is also available while your toddlers can go and enjoy some play time in lovely set out playing area.
